ESET offers a great anti-malware engine and firewall settings. It also comes with a password manager, which includes forms, browser protection and a password manager. Its parental controls as well as secure browser and anti-theft tools are all good but not outstanding. It doesn’t offer VPN or microphone protection, however it does offer remote screen capture or camera access to check what a thief is up to on your mobile or laptop.
The program is designed using an intuitive interface that beginners are able to understand and use, but it also provides specific information and features designed for power users. The company also offers excellent support, which can be accessed via their website or directly from the client using the “support” tab which is all the way at the bottom of the application.
We loved the fact that ESET Internet Security shows you how it’s protecting your PC by providing a status bar at the top of the window and also gives you precise security information. When something significant happens on your computer or require action, the program displays clear and concise messages on the desktop close to the tray for system.
However the anti-phishing tools in the antivirus were a bit over-vigilant and blocked quite many websites that aren’t listed on PhishTank that I trust. Additionally when we plugged in an USB storage device into our laptop, the program automatically scanned it, which was a bit irritating since most other antivirus programs ask for permission to do this.
